(UPDATE: The deadline for this fundraiser has been extended to August 21.)

Hello everyone. I'm currently having a sticky situation in regard to paying for my last year of university, and I'm offering "emergency" commissions. I need funds for a hefty tuition deposit by July 1 so the timing is, admittedly, a little tight. ^^; Here is my commissions list and some recent examples of the kind of thing(s) you could get:

Koiya's Kommissions (OPEN)
Tributary Tails (commission)
Linzi the Lit (commission)
An Ever-Lengthening Load of Landi (comm.)

Normally I do commissions through Paypal. For now, I also have a Gofundme campaign specifically for this cause, but I hate asking something for nothing. If you leave a donation there you'll still qualify for a commission (the type of commission will depend on the amount donated). If you donate, just leave a note with your dA username so I know it's you and can contact you about your commission details. You can also take the regular Paypal route outlined under my commission list, if you'd rather not fuss with Gofundme.

I really appreciate anyone who helps me with this. :heart:

Dear team , here are some suggestions I have for Eclipse so far. I'm giving you these because I care about this site and wish for it to keep thriving, and I think these would help. The ones I think are most important are nearer to the top.

1: Please, please, PRETTY please bring back the "Newest" tab on the home page/in browsing!! Without this, this site is NOT friendly to new and/or less-viewed artists. They need eyeballs on their work and a "Newest" is how they're going to do it. I see that there is a sort of "meet these new deviants" on the homepage but that's not nearly as effective as having each new piece you submit appear on the home page for a bit. Every art site I've ever seen has its home page display the newest submissions and I can't imagine why you would remove this feature.

2: Please consider reinstating the Submission Categories. They were always very handy to use and I think they're a lot better than sorting everything into tags. At the very least, couldn't the categories remain in the FORM of tags? Some people don't tag their art at all.

3: Please allow us to preview our deviation descriptions, or at least have them do like these journals and look the same in-progress as they do posted. Example: I was trying to tag someone recently in a description and couldn't check to see if tagging is still working like it used to. Previews are very helpful, overall. :)

4: Having Stash Writer or some equivalent back would be good. Personally, I have used that a lot. I see I can still EDIT previously written stuff in Stash with the Writer, so why not be able to write new stuff too?

...Honestly, these suggestions ALL have to do with stuff that was removed without a visible reason. :XD:

5: This is more of a question than a suggestion, but I just have to ask... what the sweet ever-loving heck is THIS all about? :'D

whatdA

I mean, it's not like every piece of art is modeled or such. Why must we cite our inspirations? Why need locations? What if I'm just submitting a comic page, for instance? Where does THAT fit into this new submission gizmo? :XD:

Overall, I'm getting used to Eclipse, and I'm not going to jump aboard the bandwagon demanding that you bring back the old site (though I WILL miss it, myself, and I admit I still don't see that it was necessary for it to go). I just think this update needs some things like these ones addressed and it will make a world of difference. :) Thanks for considering, team !

I know a lot of people are going nuts (in a not-so-good way!) over the new site style. I also know some of you said you would be staying, but I can't help but feel a bit of concern for the near-future of dA itself, given the very-heated feedback some people have been giving today and yesterday. ^^;

I'M STILL NOT LEAVING THIS SITE ANY TIME SOON! But I AM considering branching out to other art sites as well, in case a sizeable-enough upheaval goes on here that is outside any of our controls. I'm really, really hoping that doesn't happen, and that all this upset will just calm down in time! :pray:

I would be very sad if this site did crash and burn, especially if it meant that I couldn't interact with you dear folks anymore. :saddummy: This has kind of made me realize there's currently only one, potentially-fragile place that those interactions can happen!

So, branching-out is probably something I will do eventually, once I find an alternate to settle upon. In the meantime, I feel better letting people know other places where I currently operate. There's my own site, mainly (I post all my art there too, and subscribing to the blog is essentially a "Watch"):

:bulletblue: https://sequoiathestoryteller.com/

For comics, there are also ComicFury sites for both Accidental Elemental and Yowler and Draggin. I'm also trying to finagle a way to set up flip-throughable comics on my website too.

I know these are no proper substitute for an art site... they're really one-sided for one thing; I'm the only one who can post stuff on them! ^^;. But just in case anyone is interested in following my particular stuff elsewhere, those are the places to do it as of this moment. At least they're places to stay in contact if the worst-case scenario happens here.

I'm just putting all that out there, just in case. Hopefully it won't have to come to that. But at least in terms of other, actual art sites, it's probably a good idea to branch out anyway, so I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for other good places. :) I know there's Artstation, and a couple of you mentioned some up-and-coming art sites that you say look promising. All this is in my radar! ^_^

Hello everyone. I'm attempting to submit a journal via the 'Eclipse' mode of the site. Trying to get used to this mode and learn my way around it.

I've heard a lot of people complaining and wanting to leave because they're making this change permanent. How many of you will be leaving too? I'm surely going to stick around, myself. This mode is certainly something to get used to, and I'm definitely not in love with it, but I'm not about to screech at it either... just kind of "meh" about it. xD

A couple beefs I do have: One, the way we zoom in on art pieces. It used to be that you could view art at its full zoom AND still scroll down and see the description and all. Now you have to go up and click an X to get back to the main deviation page and it's a little clunky. Plus, it seems to zoom it to fit THE SIZE OF YOUR WINDOW, rather than the full trim size of the picture itself, making the resolution look horrible. ^^;

Also, I can't seem to preview this journal. That's rather bothersome... also, no "add media" button with a vast library of emoticons to play with??

ALSO, I'll miss the little custom gallery-folder icons. I'm PLEASED with mine and it's a lot of fun making them! ;w;

Other than those things, I've not found too much to complain about yet. Certainly not enough to make me flee the site altogether, but it seems there are a few areas that could stand to be improved still.

I'm still a little confused, though, about why they've been pushing this change sooooo hard (to the point of not really caring about what people say, apparently?) I can't see how the old site was broken enough to warrant such a huge overhaul, really... I admit that makes me scratch my head just a bit.

Anyway, just rambling and testing out the new journal-process. =P
